Courses
My standard one day scything courses are designed to introduce attendees to using and looking after an Austrian scythe. The course is suitable for a range of experience levels, from complete beginners to those who have been using a scythe but feel that it could be working better for them.
The structure of the day will be as follows:
- Introduction and familiarisation
- Setting up an Austrian scythe
- Movement and technique
- Mowing practice
- Sharpening in the field
- Maintenance and peening the blade
I provide one-to-one and private group training at a location of your choosing. These sessions can follow a standard course outline or be bespoke to suit your needs.
I also run courses at a number of inspiring venues, between April and October, on which spaces are bookable. Please find the 2024 dates and locations listed on this page.
Most of those attending prefer to purchase an Austrian scythe in advance of their course, to set up and learn on during the day. However, I have a limited number of scythes which can be hired, but this must be arranged in advance when you book your course. An additional hire cost may apply. The FAQs page provides some further information.
